Looking for resources on vegetarianism?

What I often hear is "I was thinking about trying to be vegetarian", or "I wanted to try being vegetarian, but didn't know what to eat". So here you go folks, check out the website http://www.peta.org/ for some inspiration on recipes, ethical issues, and healthy eating habits. They also have some really cool gear, and a free 'starter kit' that can be mailed to your home. PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals)is a non-profit organization that stands up for animal rights, and provides some great resources for those of us who are curious about vegetarianism or veganism.

  1. A lot of people (even vegetarians) find PETA's views to be a bit extreme and their actions more-so. There seems to be a negative connotation with associating with them (not saying it's valid, just saying it exists.)

So for those people who (like I once was) are scared away from vegetarianism because of places like PETA, here are a few more excellent resources to check out:

    Vegetarian Society -
    www.vegsoc.org/
    Toronto Vegetarian Association -
    www.veg.ca/ and
    The Vegetarian Resource Group -
    www.vrg.org/

There are a number of great resources online, don't be afraid to just type Vegetarian into a Google search and see what you find. If you're mature enough to be questioning the ethics and health implications of your eating habits, you should be able to do some objective research that helps you make your decision.
